the solution is to tie them up to the fence

cant tie too many stalks together or the weight pulls the twine apart.

the tallest one measured 10 feet. i brought out my tape measure, i couldnt believe how tall it got. these two varieties are only supposed to get to 6 feet tall.

as the heads developed and got even heavier, they had a harder time staying upright even with being tied.

big fat fuzzy bumblebee in the middle of this 'lemon queen' sunflower.
