some of the daylilies i planted this spring bloomed! they probably shouldnt have, but i let them anyway. they're so pretty.
i think this one is the chicago apache
from its location, this one might be the bela lugosi, though i'm wondering if it was mislabeled as bela lugosi. otherwise its the purple de oro and definitely mislabeled. only time will tell.
purple coneflower, though its more red than purple...
front flower garden, with black eyed susans in the middle
asiatic lily
orange daylilies
stevia
comfrey
there was a butterfly caught in spiderwebs out at the bottom of the porch steps. it had managed to get free of the web, but was still wrapped in it/trailing it.
i pulled the webbing off but it looked like the web had maybe cut thru the left wing
it couldnt fly off so i set it in the shade on an overturned pot tray with a water filled one next to it. dont know if butterflies need water, but it sat there for a couple hours before disappearing. does it seem strange the big long caterpillar like body still attached?
after picking cherry tomatoes, i was surprised to find my hands were all powdery yellow! it was all over, not just my fingers but my clothes too.
my guess is that its the pollen from the cherry tomato flowers. i've never grown cherry tomatoes before, and there are just SO many flowers compared to how many flowers there are on the big/regular tomato plants.
i've never come away all yellow before. and it didnt just brush off, i had to scrub.
