yesterday I got all the drawer glides installed and all the drawers in.
all the drawers
the drawer glides are like the drawers, each one goes in differently. so many options.
the bottom ones get screwed in one way.
the middle ones get screwed in another way.
the hidden drawer gets screwed in a third way. yay. i got the bottom one in fine. i didn't catch that the other drawers went in different, and had to undo and redo all them.
looking good!
then the next cabinet over had the hidden drawer, and i didn't catch that one was different, and had to undo and redo that one.
the third cabinet i finally got every one installed correctly the first time. it helped that i marked it all out.
the drawer glides, i really could have used an extra hand to hold them up while i screwed them in.
and when you put the drawers on the glides, you really have to push them in that first time. hard enough it makes you start to worry you're doing something wrong. and then it goes and all is right.
the drawer fronts gouge easily from the drawer glides. be very careful in stacking and moving them around.
because *each* drawer glide gets attached to the drawers differently as well, i labeled the drawers with post it notes so the right drawer went in the right place. another suggestion i found online and appreciated greatly.
base cabinets, drawers in
kitchen so far
base
uppers
there are lots of extra parts, and parts that arent ready to be used yet. i kept all the little parts boxes from the cabinets and started putting all the same parts in the boxes. this one has all the plastic clips for the sides of the drawers once they're installed and the drawer fronts are adjusted if necessary. and those little rubber stick on tabs for closing.
all the other boxes of miscellaneous pieces
now we have to figure out how to get the handles installed evenly and matching across all the drawers and door fronts.
trying to figure out the mounting height for the exhaust vent with dad.
yesterday i moved all the upper cabinets in from the garage into the back bedroom. i want to get all the base cabinets moved inside too, but theres so many and they're really fucking heavy.
i had borrowed this little furniture dolly and have been using it this whole time to move the cabinets around.
i got an email from ikea about the missing parts on Friday. i emailed again on Thursday to the general complaint email rather than the gal i was dealing with and that seemed to get the fastest reply. her email said delivery on Saturday. bwahahaha. nope. not saturday. not sunday. not today (Monday) either.

today the delivery company called to schedule and of course they couldn't do tomorrow when i'll be home. they can do Wednesday, when i'm driving down to dads house to go buy the vent hood. or Thursday when i swim. or Friday when i have the library. or Saturday that's dads birthday dinner. or next Monday when i have counseling. the appt can be anywhere from 9am to 9pm. and they wont tell you what time frame you're looking at until the day before when an automated call informs you. first i chose next Monday because i didn't realize i had my counselor appointment. then i called back and rescheduled for Thursday another week out. just hope they call me with an afternoon window. i'm sick of waiting and dealing with their crap.
