the outside of the brand new building. this is the building i volunteer at.
outdoor artwork piece/bike rack. its supposed to be an ojibwe canoe, but many people (myself included) mistook it for a viking ship. dual minnesota heritage...
for the bikes, an air pump and common bike tools. (bike locks are available inside the library)
the view when you first walk in - the info desk is directly behind those four tables that they set up with books of various subjects each month.
the return window, you push your books thru the slot and they slide onto an automated material handler (AMH) that sorts them into different bins.
the amh from the other end - there is a window so kids can peek in.
they have a gigantic light-bright like thing that the kids enjoy playing with
the childrens section, easy books in the bins, children and teen books on the shelves in the rear
another art piece - its a gigantic air tube that the kids can place fluffy balls into and it shoots them out up over their heads. they can open/shut certain passageways that redirect where the fluffy balls pop out. the kids LOVE it. it can get quite loud and disruptive sometimes and they'll shut it down on occasion. its in the middle of the library with no walls or bookshelves to deflect the sound. they didnt quite think that location thru. but even i like to pop one of the balls into it when i walk by. its fun.
magnetic building blocks, the kids have built some neat things, tall things, and eventually it always comes crashing down, super loud.
computers
they have seating for people with laptops, and the outlets have both regular power outlets and USB ports for charging other stuff.
more seating, including some larger tables. adult bookshelves in back.
self checkout
the back room work area. no personal desks or offices, its all open use. they have extra large lockers with drawers under them instead.
the second AMH machine for the outdoor drive up window, and carts of materials to be shelved
AMH machine
the black/gray rollers move the materials down the line, the blue line looking things lift up and roll the books sideways off the rollers and into the different bins according to the scanner down at the front of the machine/not pictured.
