on april 24 i bought a dishwasher to be delivered. even though my old dishwasher technically still runs, it doesnt run very well, and its racks are rusted to hell and falling apart. i believe the best time to replace it is NOW while everything is exposed and easy to access.
i removed the old dishwasher and they hauled it away when they delivered the new one.
the old dishwasher was hardwired with just an electrical wire coming up from the floor. no outlet. no electrical box. just a hole in the floor and a wire.
the new dishwasher
heidi investigating the dust under the old dishwasher
it all clean and new and not rusty inside!
but under the dishwasher the subfloor has water damage as well as under the sink did.
the plywood is all dried out and separating
dad and i are discussing replacing the floor. theres two layers of sub-flooring. the upper layer is damaged, the lower layer doesnt appear to be from looking up at it in the basement. dad thinks we can cut out the damaged section of plywood and replace it. we'll have to remove the sink and sink cabinet. and it might not get done in one day, so i'll be without the sink (and dishwasher), but i'll live. i think its best to replace that part of the floor.
dad had me cut out a little square with my oscillating saw. that helped us discover how thick a piece of replacement plywood we'll need.
the plywood came out in 5 separate layers, no longer attached to each other. they should have still been glued together, laminated.
