most of the pears on the parker tree got hit with this fungus

it made the skin turn black and crack

there was a wasp going in and out of a hole on the bottom of that nice pear.

when it ripens, summercrisp turns yellow. they ripen about a month before the other three trees, in august rather than in september.

just a few beans. i liked that both my foot AND puppys foot were in the frame
.8-3-16 019

the bottom bean is a normal sized green bean. the upper bean is the ginormous oversized one. it makes the normal one look teeny, but its not.

diseased pears

these are the parker pears. i think they have pear scab, also called black spot. its a fungus.
.7-14-16 215

.7-14-16 217

its on the leaves too

the fungal spores kinda rub off. they dont rub AWAY, but it turns my fingers brown.
.7-14-16 218

humid conditions make it worse, and we've had a very rainy spring and summer. (ended up being the wettest year on record)
.7-14-16 219

these are the luscious pears. i think they have pear psylla. its a tiny bug that turns the skin into brown russetting.
.7-14-16 222

.7-14-16 223

theres some of the russeting from pear psylia on the parker pears too

baby pears

.6-15-16 124

some of them have this 'rust' looking thing on them that i think is caused by a bug called pear psylla. so i'll have to spray the trees with some kind of insect spray. but one that wont harm bees. and i have to figure out the right time to apply, if it needs multiple applications. ugh. i dont want to spray, but nearly the whole luscious tree has this, and some on the parker tree too.

.6-15-16 128

some of the parker tree leaves have this - which might be pear blister mite, and would also need spraying for.

a wasp was trying to start a hive on the luscious tree. i shooed it away and tore the start of the hive off the tree. it didnt come back.
