here you can see the squash vines turning yellow. i'd left the hose on for 4 hours and thought that was why they were turning yellow. instead squash bugs and squash vine borer was killing the vines.

its flowers are an orangey yellow. the vines are woven all topsy turvy around the trellis.

leaving the rye stalks on the ground seems to be working decently to keep weeds down in this area
