canning cherries

first buy 12 pounds of cherries on sale (found them for $1.99 a pound at aldi). pull all their stems off, and discard any squishy/icky ones.

start cooking the syrup. we used 16 cups water to 3 cups sugar.

pit all the cherries. wear gloves, they stain EVERYTHING. helps to have another person there to take turns with. your hand gets tired pitting that many cherries.
